Latest News

28 July 2014: Several months ago, my first book, "The Case for Space Solar Power" was published by the Virginia Edition Publishing company.  The volume is well-regarded by most readers and provides both a history, technical assessment and a business case for the concept of Space Solar Power. It is available via Amazon.com at http://www.amazon.com/The-Case-Space-Solar-Power-ebook/dp/B00HNZ0Z96.  The electronic version is formatted rather poorly on a small reader, although it works well on a tablet.  Overall, I recommend the hardcover, which has quite a large number of informative color figures and tables.  I apologize in advance for the typos, which will be fixed in the second edition.  I hope that you enjoy it...!

11 Dec 2013: Fake ids have revolutionized the way we think about identification and security. Fake id california allow people to navigate around traditional methods of authentication while still providing a secure form of identification. With the help of innovative technologies, fake ids are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to detect. This has opened up new possibilities for fraud prevention and identity management.

September 2012: the Final Report from my study for the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program was completed and posted online by NASA.  The study of the SPS-ALPHA (solar power satellite by means of arbitrarily large phased array) concept presents the first end-to-end systems analysis of a fundamentally new approach not only to space solar power, but to a wide range of future space systems.  The study can be obtained from NASA's NIAC website.

28 May 2012: I am trying something new: writing and publishing a book on Space Solar Power…  And… I am hoping to get the wherewithal to publish, etc., through the crowd-sourcing site, “Kickstarter.com”. The tentative title of the book is “Space Solar Power and the SPS-ALPHA Concept”; if you are interested in learning more about this, please take a look at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/450844280/space-solar-power-and-the-sps-alpha-concept?ref=live If you like the idea, please consider sharing this with others, and perhaps think about supporting the project…! Thanks a lot for taking a look.  PS: I have until 27 June 2012 and then the project dies, unless there is sufficient support through Pledges...!

01 October 2011: The First International Assessment of Space Solar Power (SSP) has been published by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA).  Artemis Innovation played a lead role in the implementation of this multi-year study effort (2008-2011).  The report will be available on-line at the IAA website during Fall 2011.

08 August 2011: Artemis Innovation Management Solutions was selected for a NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Project for 2011 - "SPS-ALPHA (Solar Power Satellite via Arbitrarily Large Phased Array) - the First Practical Solar Power Satellite Concept."  This project will be implemented for NASA during September 2011 through September 2012.

Mankins briefed the PCAST (the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology), within the OSTP (Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the White House); topics included the need for transformational sustainable energy solutions, such as space solar power (SSP) / solar power satellites (SPS).
